Meet the team
DR. KAYLA ASATO
Dr. Kayla Asato was born and raised in Kaneohe, Hawai'i. She graduated from Punahou School and earned her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California-Davis. She continued her education at UC Davis Veterinary School where she earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2014. Dr. Asato then moved to Ventura, CA to complete a one-year small animal rotating internship at the Veterinary Medical and Surgical Group. Following her internship, she worked at a busy general practice in Ventura before returning back home to Hawai'i. If she looks familiar, it is because she used to be a technician at Koolau Animal Hospital many years ago! She loves that she is returning to the clinic where she found her passion for veterinary medicine and looks forward to providing compassionate care for you and your pets.
WHITNEY, RVT
Whitney is our lead technician and office manager. She has been with Koolau Animal Hospital since 2013. She graduated form the Windward Community College Veterinary Technician program and received her RVT license in 2015. She is our proud cat lady and dog mom to our receptionist Gunther. She makes sure operations run smoothly on a day to day basis and provides excellent client and patient care.
TASHA, RVT
Tasha grew up in Kaneohe. She graduated from the Windward Community College Veterinary Technician program and received her RVT license in 2019. She enjoys going to the gym and beach, listening to country music and taking care of her fur children: Boots and Kimo.
KRISTIANNE, RVT
Kristianne grew up in Maui. She received her BS in Animal Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2014. She then continued her studies and graduated from the Windward Community College Veterinary Technician program and received her RVT license in 2020. She brings joy to our clinic with her puns and great sense of humor. She enjoys exploring new restaurants, cooking, snorkeling, and forcing her rescue dogs to cuddle.
